Foot Bridge Construction

"Volunteers showed their community spirit by donating time
and money to construct a unique new footbridge at the community
center this spring. Our thanks to everyone involved, it is a bridge
everyone can be proud of."

The idea and decision to build the bridge came in late April and the
construction started on May 8th. We finished at 5pm on May 30th,
the day before memorial day.

The week of May 8th was spent fabricating the arches in the evenings in my
back yard. We dug and poured the footers at the creek Saturday May 14th.
Arch fabrication continued in the evenings for the next week and the angle
Iron was installed on the footers Friday May 21st. On Saturday May 22
volunteers cut down undesirable vines and trees for safety before carrying
the three arches from my house to the creek and erected them. Construction
continued the following week at the creek and we met our goal of finishing
the bridge before the Memorial day holiday.

Later I went back and reinforced the handrails a bit.
