VDOT has provided a reasonable solution to our “crosswalk” situation by installing a series of warning fluorescent pedestrian signage. The 350 FEET one is designed to alert approaching traffic of a crossing ahead. The second identifies the “broad” crossing area to be observed by the vehicle driver. A possible painted crosswalk application is still being studied by VDOT. However, we appreciate the advice given by Robert E. Vilak, Jr., Richmond District Traffic Engineer, VDOT Central Region Operations. Thank you, Rob! We respectfully ask parents to remind their children to be mindful when attempting to cross Pinetta from Forkland. Please:
STOP,
LOOK BOTH WAYS,
LISTEN FOR TRAFFIC BEFORE CROSSING, and then
CROSS TOGETHER WITH A BUDDY!
Remember to walk against the traffic flow when coming to the pool. STAY SAFE, GATORS!
